Expert Consultation on Preparing for Your Mare's Foaling

My Season I DONE

Well number was born last week. she is going great. Unfortunately her front leg is a little crooked, but the first treatment is confinement. So mum and bub are in a yard a little bigger than box, that we move daily for some fresh grass. Most mild cases a few weeks can make a big difference. the excess moving and running exacerbate the pressure on the already mis-aligned leg and the rapid growing, make this issue worse and that may mean surgery. So confinement, possibly an extension added to the hoof then surgery is the first two don't resolve the issue.

Now most big studs in the southern hemisphere are done or nearly done, but that small breeders, particularly the riding horses can foal up to February/March. Fertility of the mare peaks in summer, hence we can still have what I regard as "Late Foals" after they typical breeding season is over.

So for me, I'm done but I am still here for you .

Time to watch my babies grow.
